Isle of Dogs - Watercolour 30 x 42cm

I love the rich history of this part of London.  As you walk around the Isle of Dogs there are countless reminders of its past.  In this painting I wanted to highlight the juxtaposition between the lives and the industry that led to the development of this area and what it is now, with its skyline dominated by incredible high-rise buildings.  I find the historical narrative and the contrast between then and now fascinating and think watercolour works very well as a medium to capture this ambiguity in a single painting.
