Tower Hill - Watercolour - 32 x 52cm

I am obsessed with the River Thames as it flows through London and the way it is inextricable linked with the history and the development of the city.  In this painting I wanted to pull together some of the historic elements - the Tower of London and old London Bridge - and contrast them with the modern skyline - to create a sort of 'then and now' collage.  I think watercolour works lends itself particularly well to this sort of ethereal image and I wanted to create a dreamlike, fluid feel to the picture to evoke a feeling of passing time.
